BULLETIN Effects of elevated C02 on growth and carbon partitioning in rice
نویسنده
چکیده
Rice (Oryza sativa cv. Jindao 1187) was grown in open-top chambers which contained ambient and enriched C02. C02 elevation stimulated rice tillering during early vegetative stage. However, panicle dry weight per plant did not change at maturity stage. Root biomass was enhanced by high COz. Root / shoot ratio was increased under high C02 at maturity, indicating more carbon allocation to the below-bround part in rice under high C02.

International Association for Ecology Effects of Elevated CO2 on Growth and Carbon/Nutrient Balance in the Deciduous Woody Shrub Lindera benzoin (L.) Blume (Lauraceae) Author(s):
We examined the effects of elevated C02 on growth and carbon/nutrient balance in a natural population of the deciduous temperate zone shrub Lindera benzoin. Our data concern whole plant, leaf, and stem growth for the first two seasons of a long-term field experiment in which C02 levels were manipulated in situ. In addition to growth parameters, we evaluated changes in leaf and stem chemistry, i...
متن کاملResponse of Two Indica Rice Varieties to Salt Stress
Salinity is one of the most challenging problems that adversely affects growth and development of plants. Therefore, understanding of the mechanisms that enable plants to adapt to salinity stress will ultimately help in the selection of stress tolerant cultivars for exploiting saline soils. The main objective of this study was to examine the effects of NaCl on some physiological and biochemic...
متن کاملGrowth and Photosynthetic Responses to Elevated [c02] in Grasses from Tasmanian Native Pasture
Six species of grass (four C3 and two C4) from southeastern Australian native pastures were grown in controlled environment cabinets at current (~370 !!mol CO2 mol-I) and twice current (~750 !!mol CO2 mol-I) cabinet [C02l. Photosynthetic gas exchange and aboveground biomass were estimated after seven weeks. Cabinet [C02l had a highly significant impact on above-ground biomass (P<0.0003) with pl...
متن کاملEffects of Elevated Carbon Dioxide, Elevated Temperature, and Rice Growth Stage on the Community Structure of Rice Root–Associated Bacteria
The effects of free-air carbon dioxide enrichment (FACE) and elevated soil and water temperature (warming) on the rice root-associated bacterial community were evaluated by clone library analysis of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene. Roots were sampled at the panicle initiation and ripening stages 41 and 92 days after transplanting (DAT), respectively. The relative abundances of the methanotrophs Meth...
متن کاملAn Integrative Genetic Study of Rice Metabolism, Growth and Stochastic Variation Reveals Potential C/N Partitioning Loci
Studying the genetic basis of variation in plant metabolism has been greatly facilitated by genomic and metabolic profiling advances. In this study, we use metabolomics and growth measurements to map QTL in rice, a major staple crop. Previous rice metabolism studies have largely focused on identifying genes controlling major effect loci. To complement these studies, we conducted a replicated me...
